Essen-Katernberg, care facility

A care facility comprising two buildings was constructed in the centre of Essen-Katernberg. The buildings are designed to be bright and welcoming. The large number of windows ensures that the facility is light and airy. The buildings are wheelchair accessible and both have a lift.

The front building will house shared accommodation for 12 intensive care patients, while the rear building will have a shared accommodation for 7 intensive care patients.

IPM Bottmer was the principal, general contractor and architect for this project.

Construction support

A soldier pile wall had to be installed to support the road.

Roofing

The roofs have dark tiles. The roof insulation is installed between the rafters to ensure that the top floor does not become too warm. The carpenter constructed the supporting structure.

Rough-in installation

The building was equipped with a combination of gas central heating and an air source heat pump.

Dry walls and plaster

The double skin method was used for the dry wall construction. F90 class materials were used for boxing in.
